Emirates to showcase female-directed movies on in-flight entertainment as part of International Women’s Day celebrations

From Bend It Like Beckham to Charlie’s Angels, The Hurt Locker to Mamma Mia!, throughout all of March Emirates passengers will be able to choose from a selection of over 120 movies by female directors on ice – it’s in-flight entertainment system in honour of International Women’s Day.

This year’s International Women’s Day, to take place on 8th March, has an #EachforEqual theme and the Emirates Women Directors folder on ice will increase the visibility onboard of great women creatives and celebrate their positive contribution to the creative arts. From the US to China, Germany to South Korea, these female-directed Hollywood blockbusters, Oscar winners and non-English language movies will highlight the global achievements of women in film and provide enhanced viewing options for passengers from every corner of the world.

Yet Emirates’ dedication to celebrating inclusion and diversity does not only happen in March. Women form over 40% of the workforce at the Emirates Group and come from around 160 nationalities and are employed across 1,100 wide-ranging job roles covering all major operational, commercial and business support functions within Emirates Group. In addition to roles such as cabin crew and pilots, women also work in a number of technical positions spanning aircraft maintenance and aircraft appearance in engineering as well as in ramp, flight, crew and cargo operations.
